On the last Friday evening, April 10, 2026, a presentation of the book “Jedna Wieś” (One Village) took place at the Wincenty Witos Community Center in Wierzchosławice.
The meeting gathered many guests, residents, and people interested in the history of the peasant movement and the figure of the three-time Prime Minister of the Second Polish Republic.
„Jedna wieś” (One Village) is an important testimony to the life of the rural community at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Witos—coming from a peasant family from Wierzchosławice—describes in a simple and sincere way the world that shaped him: difficult living conditions, but also solidarity, a strong work ethic, and attachment to the land.
As emphasized by Janusz Skicki, head of the Wincenty Witos Museum in Wierzchosławice, the book is not only a record of local history, but also a story about the development of social awareness in the Galician countryside, which played an important role in the history of reborn Poland.
The guests were welcomed by the Angel Voice Choir from the Wincenty Witos Primary School in Rudka, performing the “Pieśń o Witosie” (Song about Witos.)
The event was accompanied by a screening of the documentary film „Witos. Polska jest najważniejsza” (Witos. Poland Is the Most Important.)
Thank you for spending this time with us.
We would also like to thank Mr. Robert Bryl for the photographic report of the event.
