„Wysepka” – Andrea Levy
Jest rok 1948.1948 year to england as their new home arrives wave of refugees from Jamaica, which in the time of war as volunteers served in british army. Among them there is Gilbert Joseph to whom soon after joins his wife. The book portrays the clash between expectations of those two and reality. It turns out that expectations are far away from reality.. Great Britain does not greets them with open arms. The book shows how big changes had to happen in society to no one was amazed by the look of people with different skin color. It also shows how hard it is to assimilate outlanders with citizens.
