At the invitation of the Municipal Public Library and in cooperation with the Municipal Cultural Centre and the Middle School in Wierzchosławice, on May 27, 2009 (Wednesday), Krzysztof Petek—author of action-adventure novels, journalist, as well as organizer of expeditions and survival schools—will be our guest.
The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the auditorium of the Municipal Cultural Centre.
Those interested will have the opportunity to purchase books signed by the author.
Krzysztof Petek was born in 1970 in Wadowice. He led a Special Scout Unit. Taking part, among other things, in training organized by anti-terrorist units, he completed courses in survival, hand-to-hand combat, and the psychology of critical situations. He became a journalist in his second year of high school, publishing in nationwide magazines. He completed his political science studies with a specialization in journalism in 1994 at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Silesia in Katowice. He has published in both Polish and German periodicals. He worked in a radio studio and prepared programs for children and youth for Katowice Television.
His cooperation with the Siedmioróg Publishing House resulted in the Settling Scores with Adventure series. For Literatura Publishing in Łódź, he wrote the GAME series; his other books are published by WORD-PRESS.
Since 2001, he has been a member of the Lower Silesian Branch of the Polish Writers’ Union, co-organizer of the International Poetry Festival Poets Without Borders, and publisher of the post-festival almanac. In 2006, he became president of the EURECUS Culture Promotion Association; in March 2007, vice-president of the Lower Silesian Branch of the Polish Writers’ Union.
He continues to write new books and travels throughout Poland for author meetings, also promoting a healthy lifestyle and social engagement. He combats pathological attitudes by organizing lectures and youth expeditions. He participates in the “All of Poland Reads to Kids” campaign and conducts international literary training sessions and journalism workshops.
